CHRONIC
WOUNDS
AND A COMMUNITY GIVEN NEW HOPE
Once a young man involved in a traffic accident at the age of 19, this patient has spent more than three decades living in a wheelchair. In 2023, a deep ulcer developed on his leg with a high risk of systemic infection. Doctors were forced to perform surgical debridement and recommended joint amputation to preserve his life.
However, while waiting for surgery, the wound began to show unexpected improvement after the application of the biological gel PL PRO, a formulation developed by DKD. Granulation tissue gradually formed, the infection was controlled, and the patient was ultimately spared from amputation.
He was discharged from the hospital after only seven days, retaining his limb — something that once seemed almost impossible.
He is one of many representative cases at Maison Chance (Lucky Village) — a community where DKD has collaborated in research and supportive treatment since 2021.
Understanding the practical needs of wheelchair users after occupational accidents — even though mobility is limited, maintaining physical balance and tissue health remains essential — we developed a specialized formulation designed to help prevent pressure ulcers year-round while strengthening the natural protective barrier in individuals with weakened immunity.
Here, each patient is not merely a recipient of treatment but a meaningful part of the journey toward creating better solutions. They teach us resilience. They teach us how to truly listen to the body’s own signals.
“Science begins with people — and only has value when it returns to heal people.”
Maison Chance is not only a place where medical data is observed and documented; it is also a living measure of the humanitarian values guiding DKD’s scientific work.
For us, every avoided surgery, every wound that heals without scarring, and every smile that returns to a patient’s face becomes the greatest source of inspiration to continue our mission.
